About us :
The Hyderabad Ascension Mar Thoma Church in the twin cities was formed by an Episcopal Order in May 1951 and Rev. P. Samuel was appointed as the Vicar from 01st June 1951. Mar Thoma and Orthodox worship services were conducted alternatively at the St.Andrew’s Church by the respective priests stationed at the St.Andrew’s Church premises. At a general body meeting in 1956, it was decided to purchase a plot of land and build our own Church building, A property measuring 1831Sq, yds. on which the Ascension Mar Thoma Church now stands, was acquired in 1957. In the same year, the Most Rev. Yuhanon Mar Thoma Metropolitan laid the foundation stone for the church building, on 1st May 1963 the Madbha was dedicated and in 1967 the entire Church building was dedicated.
The Church decided to trifurcate the parish based on geographical boundaries for better pastoral care. The resulting sister parishes are presently named as :
1. Ascension Mar Thoma Syrian Church-Hyderabad
2. Secunderabad-Hyderabad Mar Thoma Syrian Church
3. St.Thomas Mar Thoma Syrian Church- Ramachandrapuram, Hyderabad
The Ascension Mar Thoma Church was catering to about 140 families at a time of trifurcation. In 2015, a new church complex comprising of the church, covered parking space, parish hall parsonage, Bishop’s suite, etc was built. The foundation stone was laid by Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episocpa on 24th March 2013 and dedicated on 7th November 2015 by Most. Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan in the presence of Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episocpa. We have been worshiping in the newly dedicated church since then.

Hyderabad, which is known as the City of Pearls, has now become the place where Technology meets Biology and Data Sciences meets Life Sciences. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world leading to members across the world moving into Hyderabad. In addition, our city is also the confluence of several Chirstian denominations and Ecumenical initiatives. Over the last 75 years, our church has been playing an pivotal role in driving the mission of the Mr Thoma Church through our outreach activities and has been the fulcrum for worship services across the Mar Thoma community.
With the city expanding at hyper scale, this website serves as a hub for all our parishioners and well-wishers, providing timely information about our church history, activities and the community at large. In an era where we rely on technology to stay connected, this is an essential tool for keeping us united in our faith and shared mission.
